homepage_1The Extended Schools initiative recognises the positive impact of extended services on pupil's motivation, behaviour and engagement with learning.

During 2006-08, the government has reportedly invested start up funding of £680 million to support schools and local authorities in developing extended services. Over £1 billion has been provided in 2006-08 to support the development of personalised learning, including extended services. According to the Department for Children, Schools & Families, there are over 5,000 schools currently offering full extended programmes and half of all schools are well on the way to doing so.
